| Meet the largest
bears on earth.
Kodiak Brown Bears are a subspecies of brown or grizzly bear found only
on the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago. Males can stand over 10
feet tall and weigh up to 1500 pounds. Bears mate in May and
June, and females typically have two to three cubs in their
litters. Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge protects the habitat of
these large omnivores. Thanks to Steve
Hillebrand at USFWS for providing these images. |
